Hi, btw. How you all doing?

It's only 9am, but this is what awaited me when I arrived at work this morning. The weekend staff had covered my desk and it's contents (and the desks of the 2 other managers at my level) in tinfoil.



It's a good thing I'm in a pretty decent mood this morning. I'm pre-caffeinated, so there was a 50/50 chance I'd fly off the handle. Still, it's pretty damn cute.

The work Christmas party was last Thursday.

Summing up:

1. Got drunk
2. Danced
3. Sang karaoke (Abba...)
4. ... no comment :)

I am alive. I just want to get that out there right now. I didn't die in some weird shark attack. I didn't drown in vomit. And I didn't bungee jump off a long pier with a short rope... or something.

Work is nuts. I am in management training. It's fun. Work remains nuts.

Tirian turns 8 on the 16th. That's crazy. I am a mother to an 8 year old child. He rocks my world, he's the best thing ever. He made me the best fucking Mother's Day gift ever, with sparkles and a photo of him and all sorts of shit. He's so smart, it's painful. He's learning piano and is going through the curriculum at double the normal pace. I've got a genius child. Plus he's gorgeous.

My friends are amazing. Especially N, K, B and M - so supportive and kind and patient. I'd be a wreck without them. I love you guys.

This is like a fucking Oscar acceptance speech. I'll close therefore by saying fuck you, God, you've never done anything for me.

Tirian is one damned lucky child. He got everything he had put on his Christmas list. This included (amongst other things) the board game Cluedo (hurry up and grow up, child, so I can show you the movie Clue); a remote control car and a Nintendo DS. For my part I got the Star Wars Trilogy box set, the new Robbie Williams CD, two CDs by Souad MassiThe Chronicles of Narnia PC game and Age of Empires III.

I'm back to work on Thursday, although to be honest it feels as though I am still there. I've received 6 work related phonecalls since Friday all beginning with "I'm sorry to disturb you while you're on vacation, but..." or "I realise you probably can't help me since you're not in the office, but...". I don't mind for some things, but Jesus H Roosevelt Christ on a stick, people, some of this should could either wait, or could have been dealt by someone IN the office if you'd emailed them. FFS.

Now, I am going to go play Scrabble with my son. At least until the next phonecall comes through.

I passed one year with the company on the 13th. I'm happy with this achievement, and with my progress in the past 12 months.

I was in the US earlier this month, visting work's HQ and also attending a Christmas/15th anniversary party. It's so lovely and warm in California in December, they actually get to see the sun. I do have pictures, but I don't know if I will show them. :P

Yesterday I went to Disneyland with some colleagues. It was a good time, but I really shouldn't have spent the entire day outside in the cold, because...

... now I am so sick, even my teeth are hurting.
