Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy makes me a very happy girl. Matthew McFadyen as anything makes me a very happy girl. Mmmm, Tom Quinn.

My car broke. The drive belt decided to shaft itself and threaten me with a 1000 euro repair bill. I laugh in the face of such high repair bills, and go and get myself a new car. (Citroen Xsara Picasso for anyone who cares.)

CS, my boss, hath forced me to take vacation in February, saying: "Either you take one week of vacation or I suspend you for a week". He thinks I am stressed and need it. Sure, he's right, but grrr, I hate it when he's right. (He's also right about me really hating to make mistakes and being a perfectionist and too tough on myself. Mumble mumble, if I didn't treat myself so harshly, my work wouldn't be so good. There.) So, I am going to Sweden for a week. Will go visit the familybods and also some friends. Including the formidable Mr Molle. He has poured terror down upon the wee citizen-players of EVE Online, but to me he's just a big ol' teddy bear. *grin*

Movies seen recently:
Lord of War ... excellent
Pride and Prejudice ... very very good (mmmm, Darcy)
Mrs Henderson Presents ... very good. Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins are simply wonderful
Brokeback Mountain ... very good. Beautifully shot and very moving.
Underworld Evolution ... I liked the first film (as opposed to some of my colleagues) and found the sequel to be a very nice continuation of the story.

Mmmm, Mr Darcy.

Going to see Narnia tonight at 22.00. I reserve judgement until then, but I'm pretty damned excited about it.

I confess, during last night's screening of Harry Potter IV, during one of the scenes with a close up of an owl, I did yell out "O RLY".

Tilda Swinton; Narnia

Holy crap, I cannot believe this woman is 45 years old.

I bought Tirian a copy of The Chronicles of Narnia in French today. I had a quick read, and the translation seems just and actually quite good. We will start reading Le Lion, La Sorciere Blanche et l'Armoire Magique tonight.

I am very much looking forward to the film. Every time I have watched the trailers I have cried. Narnia is very close to my heart (hell, I named both my cat and my son after characters from the books) and has been ever since I first picked up the books when I was 8 years old. Many an hour have I spent daydreaming about Narnia, and imagining myself in that magic land. I have joined Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Digory, Polly, Eustace and Jill on many adventures and have even dreamt up some of my own.

When I was young, I wanted to marry Shasta and become Queen of Archenland.

I couldn't give a hoot about the allegorical undertones of the books - when you're a kid, you just don't notice it. At the roots, the books are fun, exciting, dangerous, moving and amazingly well-written. What more could children want?

Oh, and I do have a thing for large wardrobes. When I get one of my own, I shall fill it with fur coats. Just in case.
